I’ll bet as a mama you have had to fight your picky toddler tooth and nail to eat SOMETHING healthy. My kids are not only picky but they have “go-to foods” and they will not eat anything else.
In order for me to break the cycle of mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, I started thinking of ways to make meals fun and cute with some healthy choices in the mix.
Don’t worry mommas; we may not always win the battles But, if you follow these steps, we can win the war!
Not only did my kids start eating good food, they started REQUESTING it.! #momwin
1. Fun Plates!
There are a few reasons why we NEED fun plates to win this war! The first being that kids are all about FUN and a boring plate screams boring food! The next thing is plates with dividers can be a picky eaters best friend.
If it seems like we are trying to bamboozle our children, it’s because WE ARE! It works well for me, now you give it a shot.
2. Invest In Cookie Cutters!
That’s right people, our next secret weapon is cookie cutters!
My aunt gave me a huge bag of cookie cutters and I remember thinking I was never going to use them.
As I was making my kids a peanut butter sandwich one day, the bag caught my eye. I turned their boring, crust-less sandwich into a t-rex. Now, every time I make one my daughter has to remind me that she wants it like a dinosaur.
There are so many things that you can shape to make healthy foods so much more fun to eat. Here’s just a few of my ideas I will be trying soon…
- French Toast
- Eggs(cracked in a metal cutter in the skillet)
- Grilled Cheese
- Chicken nuggets
I’m gonna be that mom to go cookie cutter crazy!
3. Be Creative
After I seen how easy it was for them to eat as long as it looked fun, I started looking up all kinds of healthy food ideas.
I came across The Family Fudge on YouTube and let me tell you!!! I used to spend hours watching hair and makeup tutorials but I NEVER would have imagined being addicted to healthy lunch videos. This is not sponsored by them at all! I just love how creative she is and how cute she makes her kids lunches.
One of my favorite things that she does is uses picks for the fruits and for decoration! That’s what inspired me to do fruit kabobs on stir sticks and cheese kabobs on pretzels.
Cheesy Egg Bites
- Spray a silicone candy mold with a cooking spray
- Beat 2 eggs
- Pour eggs into each mold a little more than half full
- Sprinkle shredded cheese in them
- Microwave for 1 minute
- Serve to your picky toddler
I’m hoping that this will inspire you to try to win over your picky eaters. I am always so surprised at what my kids will eat as long as it’s cute and fun.!
Now that you have all the secret weapons of bamboozlery, start that war hunnay!
And as always, stay blessed mamas!
